Story Time
Listen carefully to the story, then answer the questions!
What your child learns
- Listening to and remembering a short story of 3–5 sentences
- Answering who, where, what and what color questions, then why questions
- Listening for details: each story has several people and things, and only one fits the question
- 12 everyday stories about family, animals, weather, the market, the beach and birthdays
- With the Vietnamese voice, kids hear the stories in Vietnamese instead
How to play
- Press "Play now". A picture appears and the story is read aloud; the words stay hidden so kids practice listening.
- Then come 2–3 questions. Tap one of three pictures to answer. On a computer, keys 1, 2 and 3 work too.
- Forgot something? Press "Hear the story again" to hear it from the start, or the speaker button to hear the question again.
- After the questions, the story text appears for a recap. Press "New story" for another one.
For parents
- It starts with three-sentence stories and simple who and what questions, then moves up to five sentences and why questions.
- All three answer pictures also appear in the story picture, so looking alone does not give the answer away: kids have to listen.
- After playing, ask your child to retell the story in their own words, or ask "What would you do?".
- The recap shows the story text: older kids can read it themselves, younger ones can follow the highlighted sentence while it is read again.
- The game is meant to be heard. With the sound off, the story text appears in place of the picture with the current sentence highlighted, so a grown-up or an older child can read along.
