Safe Streets
Wait for the green man, hold hands, and cross safely!
What your child learns
- Red, yellow and green car lights, and the red and green pedestrian man
- Cross only on the green man, at the zebra crossing; if it is blinking, wait for the next one
- Always wear a helmet on a motorbike, buckle up in the car, and keep head and hands inside the bus
- Walk on the sidewalk, never play in the road, and hold a grown-up's hand when crossing
How to play
- Mom and child wait on the sidewalk by the zebra crossing. Traffic drives on the right, as in Vietnam.
- When the pedestrian light shows the green man and the cars have stopped, tap "Go" to cross.
- Tap while the light is still red and they stay put while a gentle reminder plays.
- In between, picture questions ask which child is being safe, out of two or three pictures.
For parents
- Out on the street, ask "What color is the light? Can we go yet?" to make it stick.
- Teach your child to look left first, then right: on right-hand roads the nearest cars come from the left.
- It gets harder over time: the green man runs on a timer and blinks before turning red, and quizzes show three pictures.
- There are no crash scenes; the "unsafe" pictures only show the risky action so kids can spot it.
