Market Day
The orange costs $3: which notes will you pay with?
What your child learns
- Recognizing note values: $1, $2, $5 and $10
- Adding up to pay an exact price up to $20
- Making an amount from different notes ($5 + $2 = $7)
- Comparing amounts: which purse has enough money
How to play
- Listen to the price and look at the price tag.
- Drag notes from the wallet into the tray, or just tap a note.
- The tray shows how much you have paid; tap the tray to take back the last note.
- Pay the exact price to buy the item. Pay too much and the last note goes back to the wallet.
For parents
- The first few levels use only $1 notes so your child can count one by one; $2, $5 and $10 notes come later.
- Each note has a row of dots equal to its value, to help with counting before mental addition.
- The money is colorful play money, not a copy of real banknotes.
- Afterwards, let your child pay at a real shop with you.
