Animal Homes
Where does the whale live? Where does the camel live? Help the animals get home!
What your child learns
- The places animals live: farm, ocean, forest, the land of ice and snow, desert, ponds and lakes
- Names of familiar and faraway animals: cow, chicken, whale, octopus, monkey, tiger, penguin, polar bear, camel, hippo...
- A fun fact about each animal, like "The camel lives in the desert. It can go a long time without drinking water."
- Sorting by clues: looking at an animal to guess where it lives
How to play
- Press "Play now". The animals are at the top and the habitat pictures are at the bottom.
- Drag an animal to the right picture, or tap the animal and then tap the picture. A right answer plays a short fact about that animal.
- A wrong spot sends the animal back with a hint about where it lives; after a second miss, the right picture glows.
- It starts with just the farm and the ocean; the forest, ice and snow, desert, and ponds and lakes join as your child improves. On a computer, Tab and Enter work too.
For parents
- While reading a story or watching a show about animals, ask: "Where does this animal live? Is it hot or cold there?"
- At the zoo or on a farm, point out real animals and talk about where they live and what they eat.
- Explain why each animal fits its home: polar bears have thick fur, camels can go without water, whales swim in the sea.
- The game only uses animals that clearly live in one place. Ducks, brown bears and seals live in more than one place, so they are left out.
